Thermochemical water splitting

Development of materials for supporting direct solar thermolysis and solar thermochemical redox cycles for H2, CO and O2 generation from water and CO2 (chemical looping).

TEST FACILITIES

  • System for Temperature Programmed Reduction and Oxidation.
  • Microreactor coupled with online gas analysis – both vertical and horizontal configurations.
  • High-Flux Solar Simulator for mounting and testing chemical looping water splitting reactors.

TEST TYPES

  • Characterisation of material’s performance in terms of reactivity and structural transformation, also in cycles.
  • Assessment of material’s stability and durability upon long redox cycling.
  • Technology demonstration tests in the High-Flux Solar Simulator

FURTHER SERVICES

  • Testing of materials and solar reactor prototypes with various setups and configurations mounted on the solar simulator.
  • Possibility to integrate diverse chemical looping thermochemical water splitting processes.
  • Possibility to use special gas mixtures if needed.
