TECNICAS REUNIDAS

TRSA is a global company that designs, develops, and modernizes highly efficient industrial plants in the energy sector. Through its experience and technical capacity, the Company helps a wide range of international clients to implement sustainability policies and achieve their emission reduction objectives. In its 63-year history, TR has designed and managed the construction of more than 1,000 industrial plants in more than 50 countries. The main business areas are refining, natural gas, petrochemistry and low-Carbon Technology. Within the latter, TR is working in three lines of business:

  • Hydrogen: TR actively participates by offering solutions for the different types of H2, helping its clients to integrate this element into their production processes with storage solutions or by blending it with existing gas networks. TR designs and builds green and blue H2 units in refining processes and collaborates with other companies in the development and upscaling of various water electrolysis technologies for H2 production.
  • Carbon capture and storage (CCS): This line helps energy intensive companies, to reduce the carbon emissions from their assets. TR assists these clients in their transformation processes by accelerating their energy transition through the implementation of integral CCS solutions.
  • Circular economy and bioproducts: TR provides design and construction services for plants designed to produce biomethane from waste and biorefinery plants to produce biofuels and bioproducts.

TR contribution within H2SHIFT project

TRSA is the leader of Test-Line 4: Bioethanol Reforming, collaborating with Viver Cleantech to test the performance of Viver Cleantech ethanol/methanol reformer. The technology of  Viver Cleantech will be tested at TR facilities in Madrid, integrating Viver Cleantech reformer with syngas upgrade and purification unit, to obtain pure H2 (mobility grade). TR will also perform tests to find the optimal integration between units and best operating conditions of the complete system (reformer + purification unit).

Activities that will be performed are reformer design and optimization, construction of the reformer, assembly of the reformer linked to the PSA, implementation of “Showcase” demonstrator, and testing of the complete system on the Test-Line. It will be demonstrated that Viver Cleantech’s reformer can produce H2 suitable for mobility applications purified in a competitive manner.
